Brislets Code of Ethics 1. The preference is for trading to be in LETS Units. A cash component may be charged to cover the cost of materials and travel. 2. Members acknowledge the principle of "a fair day's work" and hence shall not seek to bargain unreasonably when trading in the system. 3. Members charge for their goods and services an amount equivalent to what they would be prepared to pay for a similar service. As a guide to estimating a suitable charge the dollar charge for a similar service may be considered. 4. Members will be charged an administrative fee in units, equivalent to 4% of their trades. This is to cover expenses to operate the LETS system. 5. Except for the administrative cost, a member is the only person who can authorise Units to be taken from that member's account. It is the responsibility of the member to check their trading account and advise the administration if any unauthorized deductions have been made. 6. Members who have a disagreement seek help from a counsellor in the resource list, paying equal shares of the fee. 7. Members are responsible for advising any details of their trading to any appropriate Government Department or instrumentality which may require such details. (e.g. Australian Tax Office, Centrelink). This will not be undertaken by, and is not the responsibility of the Coordination Committee. 8. It is a member's responsibility to be satisfied as to the trading status and qualifications of other members. The Coordination Committee accepts no responsibility for the quality of work or declared level of skill of any member. 9. Members understand that the Coordination Committee is not responsible for providing indemnity for members trading with each other. 10. The debit limit is 500 Units. Members with a valid reason to exceed this limit must seek the approval of the Committee. 11. It is the responsibility of the member who receives Units to ensure the transaction is processed in the SANE Community Exchange System, or to forward the transaction slip to the Transaction Bookkeeper for processing.
